What do summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude mean?
They are the three levels of Latin honors. Summa cum laude means "with highest praise," magna cum laude means "with great praise" and cum laude means "with praise." Colleges award them by GPA, and each school sets its own levels and its own rules on stoles and cords.
